This virtual textbook was initiated before there were any textbooks on the newly evolving techniques with respect to LenSx laser cataract surgery. I thought that it would be handy for surgeons to collect their collective experiences, and that this would lead to an open “textbook” on LenSx cataract surgery. Read more

The Laser technique is relatively simple and with practice the surgeon can also operate the laser and verify settings. For the patient it is not traumatic and we do not sedate our patients. Read more

Laser cataract procedure

The femtosecond laser modifies the technique used for the lens surgery that follows so this needs to be considered in detail before the first case. These changes involve most stages of our routine cataract surgery. This includes the wounds, the removal of the capsule, how to then efficiently remove the nucleus and how to remove the cortex.
